COMPETITION RULES

 

IMPORTANT: The song-writing competition is open to anyone being at least 18 years old, with no exclusion on the basis of race, religion or belief. The competition is addressed to all amateur authors and poets who would like to express “light” in lyrical form, taking inspiration from themes of the UN-declared International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies 2015 (IYL2015).  Participation by persons tied to musical or discographic labels, agencies, or other musical, producing or editorial societies is not permitted.

The top-selected lyrical poem will be transformed into a song, interpreted and set to music by Jalisse, winner of the Italian Sanremo Festival and recipients of 4th place in the European Song Contest in Dublin and promoted and distributed on the web.

  1. The Cultural Association Crescere Creativi (from now on “Association”), having its legal seat in via Boscariol 9, Oderzo (TV), Tax number 94128910265, proclaims, in cooperation with Tregatti Musical Productions and Enterprise 8 srl, the 1st “LIGHT SONG CONTEST”, expiring at 23:00 on June 30th 2015
  1. The aim of the competition is to encourage creativity in authors of all ages for the lyrical expression of “light.”
  1. Topical matter is not restricted except that it must be directly related to the theme of “light” and appropriate for a general audience. The work can be written in Italian, English, or Spanish. In case the work is written by several authors, the participation application must be presented together.

The work must correspond to the following composition:

  • Verse (2 quatrains)
  • Chorus (2 quatrains)
  • Verse (2 quatrains)
  • Chorus (2 quatrains)
  • Bridge (1 quatrain)
  • Chorus (2 quatrains)

Rhymes by choice (AABB, ABAB, ABBA, ABCB)

On the website www.crescerecreativi.net it will be possible to find an example of the requested lyrical composition and some links to further information.

  1. The received lyrics will be judged by a jury composed by Jalisse (who will compose music for the winning text and also perform it), Roberto Gasparini (producer, formerly of A & R Recording Studios/ EMI / RCA / Sony) for the technical side, and by members of the organization IYL 2015 for the content.
  1. The application form is published on the website creascerecreativi.net: see in particular https://lightsongcontest.wordpress.com . The lyrics and registration form should be sent:

(a) By email to info@crescerecreativi.net

(b) in a sealed envelope by priority mail to the following address:

If the work is sent by e-mail, do not send it by regular mail and please in any case do not send registered letters.

 

  1. The winning entry will be interpreted and set to music by the professional group Jalisse and promoted on various events associated with IYL 2015. It is therefore a requirement that the winning author sign a contract for musical publication and provide a written acceptance of the award; otherwise, the prize will be awarded to another author. The winning author shall keep rights of authorship for the text. If the text was composed by more than one person, the acceptance of the award must be signed by all the authors; the failure to sign the acceptance of the prize even by one of the authors will be equivalent to non-acceptance of the prize.

While only one text will be set to music and recorded, the top 10 finalists will be displayed on the IYL2015 site.

  1. By taking part in the contest, participants declare under their sole responsibility that the lyrics are the result of their own imagination and relieve the organizers and their partners from any responsibility for damage and direct or indirect consequences.
  1. The author accepts to transfer to Tregatti the rights mentioned in following article nr. 9 and gives explicit authorization to Tregatti to use his/her name for advertising and public relations. The winning author does not have any right to eceive any further compensation.
  1. Tregatti and its partners retain the right to revoke the prize in case they have a reason to suppose that the author has violated the obligations, declarations and/or guarantees foreseen by the present rules, and the right to choose, in such a case, another winner.
  1. The works will not be sent back.
  1. The jury’s verdict is unquestionable and final.
  1. Participation in the contest requires full acceptation of each statement in the present rules.
  1. Protection of personal data: according to the D.Lgs. 196/2003, the organizing office declares, according to Art. 13, that the elaboration of the participants’ personal data has the only aim to manage the competition and to send to the participants information regarding the initiative. It also states that the data will not be given to third parties for any reason. According to art. 7 about the termination right, the author can ask for cancellation, rectification or updating of his data by contacting the Association secretariat. Any controversy regarding the present rules will be exclusive competence of the court of Rome and any dispute arising in connection with this Regulation shall be referred to the jurisdiction of the same court.
